Wrapping Up Australia's First Sextech Hack

We were very proud to support the wonderful Bryony Cole over the weekend in running Australia’s first sextech hack, and so impressed with the ideas and enthusiasm of those who participated. With women’s voices present in almost every team, and the dominant presence throughout the event, we witnessed creation of educational materials, inclusive and conscious intimate content, gaming and dating applications, therapy services and platforms to help people with disability to explore and express their sexuality.
It was inspiring. And it was generous. The people participating did their best to reach across boundaries and to understand each other and understand the issues, and that in itself was a huge victory.
Of course there were winners on the day, and we are delighted to record those here.
An honourable mention went to GRIP - an all girl team who reimagined packaging for condoms.
Third place went to Who Wants to Know, a team that created an early childhood sex education tool, teaching about anatomy and consent.
Second place went to Ignite, a team that built an application for couples as a gateway to revitalisation of their sex life, as well as to therapy and learning resources.
Winning the first ever Sextech Hackathon in Australia, was a team who built Audiovibe - a voice activated application that would act as a controller device for vibrators, virtual reality interfaces and other tools for people with disability.
Congratulations to all the winners, as well as to all the other participants who came together to help improve a very important part of all our lives.
