This week Disruptor, Joanne Jacobs, will be speaking at the Professional Conference Organisers Association Conference on the Gold Coast in Queensland. She’s speaking on how corporate events can be adapted to deliver memorable and inspiring, but also productive events, where organisations can use the power of people to generate change.
It’s a common perception that corporate conferences are an important mechanism to communicate and network, as well as introduce products and ideas to businesses. But too often these talkfests are all talk, and no action.
We believe that when you are bringing a large number of people together to learn about an industry or organisation, it’s a massive opportunity to tap into the skills of the people in the room.  Whether you use innovation exercises or small-group problem solving, there’s the chance to make the most of the time that businesses spend at conference to contribute to productivity.
Joanne is looking forward to the event, because it’s facilitating precisely this kind of problem solving. But she’s also introducing them to hackathons. And there’s no better way to mobilise the power of people than with the rapid prototyping of hackathons! Watch out Queensland! :)
