. And they are not just digging around their own backyard, so to speak. They are keen to consider new ways of doing business, new markets and new product opportunities.
Last week, CIO Magazine introduced the idea of transformational leadership
as one which encourages innovation. We tend to agree that a company culture that facilitates autonomy and independent thinking can indeed, lead to innovation in the workplace. But we also believe that digging around outside the company is also vital to identifying new opportunities.
Time - or the lack of it - may be blamed for failing to look outside the scope of one’s business. But it’s not really an excuse. Find a context where you can get to look at what’s going on, just beyond the scope of your work, and you may find your business can become that much more reliable.
